Venezia Laser Facial Post Treatment Instructions

Treatment Day: You will experience a warm or burning sensation on the skin that will last between 30 minutes and 3 hours after treatment. If stinging or discomfort continues use 1 teaspoon of vinegar to 1 cup of cool distilled water and gently soak the skin with a soft cloth or gauze. Aquaphor or your prescribed aftercare (Nectar and Aftercare) should then be applied A fan to blow air at you may also help.  Drink plenty of water to hydrate.

Ointment Dressing Changes: Use recommended products as directed by your provider (such as Aquaphor, Alastin Nectar, and/or Neocutis Aftercare cream) to the area two to three times daily. Continue this process for protection and to promote the healing process until there is no fine scabbing or peeling/texture present.

Avoid Hot Water. Lubricating eye drops (artificial tears) will help to decrease dryness of your eyes if needed.

Night: To minimize facial swelling, sleep with the head of bed raised about 5 inches or sleep upright in recliner until all swelling has diminished.

Day 1-2: Expect a pink appearance with a fine sandpaper feel that will form at the skin surface. If your eyelids were treated expect significant swelling around the eyes for 1-2 days. THIS IS NORMAL and expected as part of the healing process and will subside over the first few days. It may be necessary to use prescription medication if there is any evidence that a cold sore is forming.  A professional gentle cleanser along with continued use of recommended products (such as Aquaphor, Alastin Nectar, and/or Neocutis Aftercare) directed by your provider should be used. Do not pick rub or scratch your healing skin or you may scar.

Day 3-4:  Continue professional products AM and PM, only after normal skin texture returns along with a zinc SPF of 30 or higher. Please note that continued application of moisturizer will speed up the healing process, as will following the plan your Be Medispa skin care professional has customized for you. Continue to hold Retin-A or any other product of the “retinoid” family and any other harsh products such as Glycolic or Salicylic acid products for one week.

Activity Level:  Avoid strenuous exercise, bending, straining, stooping, or lifting heavy objects for the first 3 days. On the other hand, mild sustained activity will help your healing process.  If the skin around the mouth is tight, minimize facial expressions.

Sun Exposure:  Avoid direct sun exposure for at least three months. A sunscreen SPF 30 or higher should be applied every day. Wear a hat and sunglasses. Your skin is extremely vulnerable to the sun after having laser treatment.  Protecting your skin and limiting sun exposure is essential to ensure the best cosmetic result.

Expectations and Outcomes: Redness may persist for several days after treatment. Mineral makeup or a tinted sunscreen may be used.  Skin usually continues to improve over time (3-6mos) as collagen stimulation takes place. Patients are typically very pleased with results, and often come for repeat treatments over time to maintain results. Patients who follow their prescribed skin care regimen are generally the most pleased and have the best results.
